OF THE SCIENTIFIC ASSOCIATION

Biomechanical Society of Students “Da Vinci”

I. General Provisions

§ 1

1. The legal basis for the operation of the Scientific Association “Biomechanical Society of Students Da Vinci” is, in particular, the Act of July 20, 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended), the Regulations on the Activities of Student Organizations of Poznan University of Technology, and these regulations.
2. The following abbreviations are used in these regulations:
− Scientific Association – The Scientific Association Biomechanical Society of Students “Da Vinci”,
− Members/Member – Members/Member of the Scientific Association Biomechanical Society of Students “Da Vinci”,
− Supervisors/Supervisor – Supervisors/Supervisor of the Scientific Association Biomechanical Society of Students “Da Vinci” mentioned in Chapter V, § 7, point 2 of these regulations,
− Authorities – Authorities of the Scientific Association Biomechanical Society of Students “Da Vinci” established in accordance with the rules specified in Chapter VI, § 9 of these regulations.

§ 2

The Scientific Association is the basic organizational form of the student/doctoral scientific movement. The Scientific Association is a form of scientific activity for students and doctoral candidates, increasing interest in scientific and educational activities of the Institute of Applied Mechanics.

§ 3

The Scientific Association does not have legal personality.

§ 4

The official languages of communication in the Scientific Association are Polish and English.

II. Name and Headquarters of the Scientific Association

§ 5

1. The Scientific Association operates at the Institute of Applied Mechanics of Poznan University of Technology.
2. The headquarters of the Scientific Association is the Institute of Applied Mechanics at Jana Pawła II 24, 60-965 Poznań.
3. The full name of the Scientific Association is: Scientific Association Biomechanical Society of Students “Da Vinci”. Permitted abbreviations include: SC BTS “Da Vinci”, Biomechanical Society of Students “Da Vinci”, BTS “Da Vinci”.

III. Objectives and Tasks of the Scientific Association

§ 6

1. The Scientific Association serves the development of scientific and social activity of students and doctoral candidates.
2. The aim of the Scientific Association is to develop students’ and doctoral candidates’ interests in human biomechanics.
3. The tasks of the Scientific Association in the scope mentioned in point 2 of this paragraph include, in particular:
− deepening knowledge and skills in independent and team-based problemsolving in scientific and technical issues,
− developing scientific and research interests,
− initiating and carrying out activities aimed at improving the educational process,
− conducting scientific research carried out by the Institute of Applied Mechanics,
− promoting biomechanics as a scientific field, promoting the Faculty and the University.

IV. Membership Rules

§ 7

1. Members of the Scientific Association can be students and doctoral candidates of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering interested in human musculoskeletal biomechanics, mechanical modeling of tissues, and the application of modern computational methods in biomechanical issues.
2. The basis for the loss of membership in the Scientific Association is the decision of at least one of the Supervisors of the Association based on:
a) ceasing active participation in the Association’s activities,
b) removal from the list of students of Poznan University of Technology,
c) a request by the Members of the Scientific Association following a secret vote in which at least 50% of the Members participated and in which an absolute majority of votes was obtained for the removal of the indicated Member from the Scientific Association.

V. Authorities of the Scientific Association and Scope of Competence

§ 8

1. The work of the Scientific Association is managed by the Authorities in consultation with the Supervisors of the Association.
2. The Authorities of the Scientific Association consist of:
a) President,
b) Vice President,
c) Secretary.
3. The function of the Scientific Association Supervisors is held by: Dr. Tomasz Walczak, Dr. Eng. Martyna Białecka, and M.Sc. Eng. Martyna Sopa.

§ 9

The duties of the Authorities of the Scientific Association include:
− ensuring the proper functioning of the Scientific Association,
− managing the work of the Association and its sections,
− developing the action program and topics of the Scientific Association’s work in consultation with the Supervisors,
− proper use and care of entrusted equipment and devices necessary for the Association’s activities,
− ensuring the proper implementation of the Association’s action program,
− cooperation with the Supervisors of the Scientific Association and the Authorities of the Faculty/Institute,
− the President of the Scientific Association is responsible for accounting for financial resources allocated to the Association’s activities.

VI. Elections and Term of Office

§ 10

1. The Authorities of the Scientific Association are elected by all Members of the Scientific Association in direct elections at a joint election meeting.
2. Elections are valid if at least half of the Members of the Scientific Association participate, and the nominated candidate receives the highest number of votes.
3. The rules specified in points 1 and 2 of this paragraph apply to supplementary elections in case of dismissal before the end of the term or removal from the list of Members of the Scientific Association Authorities.

§ 11

The term of office of the Scientific Association Authorities lasts one year and begins on the day the election results are obtained. After one year from this date, elections must be held again to confirm the continuation of the current Authorities or to elect new ones.

VII. Dissolution of the Scientific Association

§ 12

1.The Scientific Association may be dissolved by a resolution of the Association, adopted with the consent of at least half of the Members.
2.The Scientific Association is liquidated by the decision of the Rector in case of:
− activities inconsistent with legal regulations,
− activities inconsistent with the regulations and action program of the Scientific Association,
− no activity for a period of 1 year,
− a decrease in the number of Members below 5.

VIII. Final Provisions

§ 13

1. In matters not regulated by these regulations, the provisions of the Act of July 20, 2018 – Law on Higher Education and Science (Journal of Laws of 2023, item 742, as amended) and the Regulations on the Activities of Student Organizations of Poznan University of Technology apply.
2. Amendments to these regulations are made by the Supervisors in consultation with the President of the Scientific Association, on their initiative or at the request of the Members of the Scientific Association.

§ 14

The regulations enter into force on March 10, 2025.
